CSBS Student Worker


Position Details

Department College of Social and Behavioral Sciences
Reports To Director of Student Services
Time Commitment 20 hours a week, Monday - Friday, 9am - 6pm, hours may vary.

Position Summary

Provides general administrative support for the graduate programs within the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences including student recruitment and admissions, record management and filing, as well as student events (i.e., admission interviews, graduation, etc.). FTE 0.5 (20 hours per week during Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters, and if possible, 5 hours per week during the Summer 2023 semester).

Essential Functions

  1. Provide support for graduate admissions including data management in Target X, promotional mailings, application auditing, and marketing campaigns 
  2. Assist with graduate program record management including filing, archiving, and converting paper files into electronic files 
  3. Assist with departmental events such as group interviews, cohort dinners, graduation, etc. 
  4. Provide assistance to students and adjunct faculty, answering questions and serving as a resource 
  5. Help maintain a clean and organized office space and classrooms 
  6. Performs other work-related duties as assigned 

Education/Experience/Skills

  1. Current student at Northwest University.
  2. Strong editing and communication skills.
  3. Self-motivated with a willingness to learn.
  4. Demonstrate commitment to maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment, violence, and unlawful discrimination.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively, get along well with co-workers, and deal effectively and professionally with colleagues.

Working Environment

  1. Work is generally performed indoors in a typical office setting.
  2. Some weekend/evening work required.
  3. Position works with strictly confidential information.
  4. Frequently required to be in front of a computer screen for long periods of time.

Physical Demands

The functions are usually performed while standing, but may involve some amount of time sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting (max. of 40 lbs.), walking, carrying, reaching, stretching, climbing, perform repetitive motions of the hands or wrists and other movements.  The abilities of seeing, hearing and speaking are also required.
