Bringing Faith To UX Design

Request Info

In today’s hi-tech world, people interact with a variety of software devices every day. Every interaction with a computer, cell phone, and “smart speaker” (Alexa, Siri, Google Play) is the result of countless hours of careful, creative work behind the scenes. Northwest University is one of the few schools in the PNW to offer a User Experience (UX) Design degree program.

Why User Experience at Northwest University?

In order to develop the most intuitive, useful and functional interface possible, our UX Design degree program brings together classes in art, psychology and engineering – a multidisciplinary program that is bound together through a solid understanding of “design thinking.”

Graduates with a degree in UX Design will be able to:

  • Design robust, intuitive, attractive, and functionally effective user interfaces for a variety of types of devices.
  • Implement device interfaces using development tools, programming languages, application program interfaces (APIs), and customized techniques and/or interface tools.
  • Conduct research to develop new ways for humans to interface with devices based on their needs, culture, and experiences.
  • Utilize industry standard tools and techniques (or create new ones) to design, prototype, and evaluate user interfaces.
  • Relate Christian faith to a technology vocation involving creativity, artistic expression, and human interaction.

A Message from the Program Director

Our students will begin by developing a solid understanding of human centered design where they will learn the practical and artistic applications of design thinking. That will be followed with classes in computer engineering, art and graphic design, psychology and human factors. Throughout the program students will feel at home in our on-campus design studio, and the resulting career opportunities abound in UX Design, since few universities across the country provide bachelor’s degree programs with the breadth and depth that NU allows you to pursue.
