“Does God Exist?” Seminar Recap
Last week, author Dr. Frank Turek visited Northwest University to deliver his “Does God Exist?” seminar on apologetics. Dr. Turek’s time at Northwest began on Thursday, September 10, in Butterfield Chapel. Hundreds of students showed up, making it one of NU’s largest events of the year. Over the course of the seminar, Dr. Frank Turek encouraged students to learn a vital skill: defending their Christian faith.
The evening began with an acoustic worship set led by Northwest’s own Zachary Bates. When it was time for Dr. Turek to take the stage, he immediately captivated the audience with his passion for God’s word, delivering a powerful message about truth. Turek advised students to acknowledge that most are not on a quest for truth, but for happiness. He then boldly stated, “The only way to happiness is through truth. And Jesus is the truth.”
Dr. Turek continued his message the next morning in chapel. He elaborated upon the importance of knowing how to defend Christianity. Perhaps the most gripping moment was when Turek reminded the audience that without God, there is no moral standard beyond humanity. “Why do we recognize morality?” he asked. “Because we were designed to measure goodness by the nature of God.”
Turek did not only answer the question “Does God exist?” He provided the audience with a profound understanding of our perfect, limitless God. Students left encouraged to have confidence in their faith and share the Gospel.
