First Annual Mr. Northwest Competition a Hit
Last Friday, Northwest University hosted its first Mr. Northwest competition, an event in which men nominated by their floors competed in an array of humorous challenges. The event was a collaboration by NUSG and NU Singles. After a week of vigorous rehearsal, Mr. Northwest contestants performed on stage to a packed-out chapel.
The night began as contestants wowed the crowd with a hilarious choreographed dance. The men then strutted the catwalk, each in a different costume, showing off their personalities and sense of humor. Next came the talent portion, with acts including comedy routines, classical piano and lip syncing, identifying flowers by smell, and a great deal more. As the evening came to a close, hosts interviewed contestants in traditional pageant format. Having to think fast and win the audience over, each candidate provided thoughtful, hysterical answers.
Making an impact in each event, the winner of the first annual Mr. Northwest Competition was Lemuel Daher of floor 500, the Ducks. The landmark night was filled with laughs and memories that will be treasured for years to come, and students left with smiles on their faces. It’s safe to say that this is the start of a new tradition at NU.
