Dr. Autumn Witt, Associate Provost of International Studies at NU, was recently featured in the Kirkland Reporter for her role in a trade delegation to Korea and Japan during a nine-day trip in September.

Dr. Witt joined Washington State Governor Jay Inslee and several others in order to pursue the group’s main goal of advancing Washington industries, including information technology, agriculture, and aerospace. During the trip, Dr. Witt had the opportunity to promote NU’s International Studies program while meeting with leaders from Korean and Japanese universities as well as the Governor of Hyogo (Washington’s sister state), Toshizō Ido.

Witt also gained insight into the priorities of both international students and leadership officials at several universities. She found that Japan’s universities have cut funding entirely for programs in both the humanities and social sciences. With outstanding departments in both of these categories, NU finds itself in a position to serve Japanese students who seek to study in these fields. So, by persistently pursuing the advancement of our International Studies program, NU can help strengthen the bond between other countries and the U.S. At the same time, NU can maintain its status as an institution that embraces people of all cultures and backgrounds by bringing them into a well-rounded academic environment.

Northwest University International Studies Program

Over the summer, NU had the opportunity to host 200 students from around the world as a part of its International Studies program. In the coming year and beyond, Northwest University hopes to increase that number by continuing to make NU an institution where international students feel welcome.

NU offers an excellent International Studies program at one of the most well-rounded Christian universities in the United States. It empowers students from other countries by giving them the tools and communication skills they need to engage with other professionals.
