Northwest University Hosts Fifth Annual Social Venture Business Competition
This year, Northwest University hosted its Fifth Annual Social Venture Business Competition.
Each year, students are invited to participate in the competition, where they create business plans that address social needs using sustainable funding. The plans are then presented to the university community in a tradeshow format, and community members evaluate the viability and creativity of the plans.
This year’s competition featured ten different student-led project teams. The project teams were:
- El Camion de Linda
- Everlasting Elastic
- Halfway Bar & Grill
- Insa-dong Tea House
- Jampak
- Katharos Café
- Northwest Fabric
- Pacific Flavors
- Personal Touch Demos
- University Professional Detailing
These proposals varied from food service to auto detailing, and all featured a “purpose beyond profit” component, such as donating yogurt to cancer patients, hiring single moms, or giving money to various local causes. NU could not be prouder of these students and their social venture business ideas.
Jampak wins Fifth Annual Social Venture Business Competition
This year’s winner was Jampak, an online music marketing company with a twist.
Jampak sells and markets emerging artists’ music, allowing customers to purchase music from Jampak and then choose to either:
- Give their money to the artist
- Give their money to a charity, OR
- Give their money to Jampak for operating expenses.
Congratulations to Jampak for winning the Fifth Annual Social Venture Business Competition with a well-thought-out, community-minded business plan.
