On October 9, 2015, nearly 300 people gathered for the Northwest University President’s Banquet at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. This year’s theme, A World of Opportunity, highlighted real-life stories and powerful testimonies of how Northwest University (NU) is preparing students for vocations and careers in business, education, healthcare, ministry, and governments—from right next door to around the world.

Jeff Rogers, managing partner and founder of One Accord Partners, emceed the evening. NU Alumnus of the Year John Quick (’05) was recognized, and special guest Roger Huang, founder of San Francisco City Impact (SFCI), shared about the partnership NU has made with SFCI by training up students for ministry through the Church Partnership Program. Through SFCI, NU students are serving in the Tenderloin District, impacting lives that have been shattered by trauma and offering hope and healing. Guests heard from NU partners, students, and alumni, as well as President Castleberry, who shared his vision and inspired all who attended the banquet.

NU students Brigid Vargas and Bella Garza spoke of the impact NU is making on their lives, and both are powerful testaments to what God is doing on the campus of Northwest University. Brigid, a junior studying psychology, shared her story of God’s sustaining grace in her life and her journey to get to NU. Bella is a senior studying music and is the third of four siblings who have attended NU.

Amy Rogers, trustee of the Northwest University Foundation, closed the evening by sharing a touching story about NU student Isaiah Whitten – a young man who thought he would never attend college. Isaiah is now studying abroad for a year at Oxford University thanks to the investment of NU partners and supporters from the evening.

Through the generosity of our sponsors and guests, the event raised over $100,000 to support the Opportunity Fund.
