What to Do on a Sunny Day in Kirkland

It’s no secret—we live in a beautiful area. And with spring just around the corner, it’s about to get even more beautiful. There’s tons to do in Kirkland when the whether is nice, all within minutes of NU! Here are some fun activities to keep in mind next time the sun is shining in Kirkland.

Enjoy the Waterfront

Read a book, join a fast-paced game of beach volleyball, or go for a swim (if you dare—brrr!). The waterfront area has something for everyone. Whether you’re seeking tranquility or excitement, the waterfront is a must on a nice day.

Explore Downtown

Head into Kirkland’s charming downtown to find great restaurants and shops. We know what you’re thinking: You’re in college, and Kirkland is a little pricey. Thankfully, many places downtown offer a student discount. Even if you’re not looking to spend money, there’s always a lot going on, and it’s still a fun place to be.

Stroll Bridle Trails Park

Bridle Trails State Park is a few short minutes from campus. With miles of picturesque walking trails, you can embrace nature right here in Kirkland. Surrounded by the great outdoors, you’ll completely forget you’re in a bustling city.

Play Disc Golf

Students, why not stay on campus? Disc golf at NU is the perfect way to get outside and enjoy a beautiful spring day in the Pacific Northwest. Play a few holes, or all nine if you’re feeling up to it. Don’t worry; if you miss, we’ll pretend we didn’t see.

Picnic in Heritage Park

Want to relax while enjoying the best views the city has to offer? Grab a blanket, some food, and a few friends, and head to Heritage Park. Acres of green lawn and scenic views of Lake Washington make up this pristine park. Don’t be afraid to take a break from studying and enjoy the sunshine.
