There aren’t many places more beautiful than Western Washington in the spring. With graduation right around the corner and the school year coming to a close, now is the perfect time to visit your student and experience all that Kirkland has to offer. To make your visit a memorable experience, we’ve compiled a list of places to stay, things to do, and restaurants to visit.

Places to Stay

With lodging and accommodations minutes from campus, visiting Northwest University couldn’t be easier.

Want to stay on the shores of Lake Washington? Consider the Woodmark Hotel on Kirkland’s waterfront, which offers a discount to Northwest University guests. Just mention Northwest University when you make your reservation.

If you’d like to be within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, and beautiful Lake Washington, then the Heathman Hotel in downtown Kirkland is the place for you.

Looking for more lodging options? Visit our website here for a complete list of places to stay.

Things to Do

If you’re looking to get out on the water, check out Woodmark Waterfront Adventures. They’ll be opening for the 2016 season on May 1 and offer boat, jet ski, kayak, and stand-up paddleboard rentals.

One of the great things about being located in Kirkland is that Bridle Trails State Park is a short drive from campus. With over 28 miles of trails, this state park is a wonderful place to spend an hour, an afternoon, or all day.

If shopping is your forte, you’re in the right place. Downtown Kirkland has an abundance of boutique shops, and The Bellevue Collection is less than 15 minutes away.

Making a trip into Seattle? The city’s iconic Pike Place Market is always a fun place to visit and browse the selection of food, flowers, and unique gifts. While you’re in Seattle, take a ride on Seattle’s Great Wheel for a beautiful view of the Puget Sound.

Restaurants to Visit

Kirkland’s Carillon Point offers a variety of restaurants to choose from, including the Beach Café, Le Grand Bistro American, and Starbucks.

In downtown Kirkland, you’ll find something for everyone, including Anthony’s HomePort, Cactus Southwest Kitchen, Homegrown Sustainable Sandwich Shop, Isarn Thai Soul Kitchen, and a host of other restaurants.

Perhaps one of students’ favorite places to eat is Deru Market. All we can say about Deru is that in order to understand how good it is, you have to try it.

We hope your visit to Northwest University and Kirkland is delightful!
