President’s Scholarship

Award Amount

Northwest University selects up to five full-tuition President’s Scholarship recipients annually. The scholarship is available a maximum of eight consecutive semesters for scholars in good standing.

Recipients receive automatic entry into the NU Honors Program. The Honors Program provides an interdisciplinary space for the development of students specifically gifted in the academic arena. By facilitating close relationships with our exceptional faculty, the Honors Program empowers these students as scholars, servants, and citizens, holding them to high standards within both the classroom and the community.

Available To

  • Undergraduate Kirkland Campus First-Year and Running Start Students

Eligibility

President’s scholars are selected through the invitational President’s Scholarship Event, an on-campus, two-day event held each spring. In addition to the standard Northwest University application, the supplemental NU Honors application and essay prompt are also required before the January 15 deadline to be considered for this event. Scholarship competition invitations are sent on February 1. The number of admitted students invited to the competition may be limited through increased academic selectivity.

Honor’s Program Invitation Criteria

Invitations to the President’s Scholarship Event are limited to students who demonstrate the highest levels of academic achievement. Invitation criteria may be increased for further selectivity.

Recommended GPA and test scores are listed below, but all students are encouraged to apply.

  • GPA: High School GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Test Scores: At least one of the following:
    • SAT – 1250 or higher
    • ACT – 28 or higher
    • CLT – 83 or higher

Deadline

All eligibility requirements must be met by January 15.

Application

A submitted Northwest University application is required for the President’s Scholarship Competition. Students will complete the application online.

Renewal

Must be enrolled for full-time study, maintain a 3.30 cumulative GPA at Northwest University (renewable with a 3.00 for the first semester only), and reside on-campus.
