Charting the Future: Welcome Back
The ancient Romans used to say tempus fugit or tempus volat—either way, “time flies.” The summer vacation has come and gone, and it’s time to go back to school. As I begin my 17th year as president, I approach the new semester with a deep sense of gratitude to God—for life and salvation and family and friends and my calling and work and health to pursue it all. I’m grateful for a remarkable team of executive leaders, a brilliant faculty, faithful and industrious staff members, and most of all, for students. I can’t wait to meet the new ones!
Not to be left out of the thanksgiving are thousands of donors and alumni and partner churches who give and pray and cheer us on. As I write, I’m celebrating a nice win for our men’s soccer team yesterday over the University of the Fraser Valley—a much larger Canadian school. I think our athletic teams are going to have a great season! You can preview our athletic calendar online, and we’d love to see you at a game soon. You may not live in Kirkland, but we may still be playing near your home!
In the meantime, please take time to enjoy this welcome video and celebrate the new academic year with us!
