Four Essential Tips for Applying to Northwest University

Fall is one of our favorite times of the year. New and returning students are back on campus. The leaves are changing colors, and here in Kirkland, we’re basking in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. There’s fresh excitement all throughout the NU community as everyone settles into the new academic year.

But here’s another reason we love fall: it’s college application season!

If you’re a high school senior or transfer student with plans to apply to NU, here are four tips to make the application process easier:

  1. Understand the application requirements. Every college or university has its own unique admission requirements. Make sure that you know what ours are so you can submit all the right information and supplemental documents with your application.

You can start by reviewing the information on our Admissions webpage.

And if you still have questions, our admissions counselors are ready to chat and help you understand exactly what you need to submit. You can email or call them anytime.

  2. Plan out what you’d like to say in your faith statement. As a Christian university that is committed to fostering your relationship with Jesus, we’ll ask you to provide a statement of faith in your application. So before you hit that “Apply Now” button, take a moment to prepare your statement of faith. We’re not only excited to learn more about your academic achievements and goals but also your testimony of how you came to know the Lord!

  3. Apply by December 1. While we accept applications all year round, applying early comes with plenty of great benefits. You’ll get your admission decision sooner, be first in line for scholarships and institutional financial aid, and you’ll gain priority access to housing placements and class registration.

  4. Earn a visit scholarship. Take a deep dive into our community by visiting our campus. You can join us for an all-day group visit experience like Northwest Friday or NU Overnight; or, if you want a more personalized visit, sign up for an individual visit. We even offer up to $1,000 in Visit Scholarships if you apply by December 1 and visit our campus by March 21.
