Northwest University Campus Tour

Hey, guys, welcome to Northwest. My name is Claire and I'm a senior here. This has been my home for the past four years, so I can't wait to show you what it looks like to be a student here. Let's go. Welcome to our first stop, this is the Wellness Center. This is a great resource for students. They can work on their physical as well as mental health. There's free counseling offered. There's also tea, massage chairs, and there's a dog that you can pet. It's great. This is The Caf, our dining hall, students here have lots of different options to eat. There's three meals a day that's a part of your meal plan. And, yeah, there's lots of different options for you to get any kind of food you want. Here at Northwest, we have a very safe campus. Security here is constantly patrolling our campus, making sure students feel safe. And they'll also jump your car for you. This is G.P.C., also known as Guy Parks and Crowder, one of our residence halls that we have here, their lounge here is in the middle for both men's and women's to come and hang out. Let's go check out a room. This is what a typical room here looks like. Basically, you can arrange it anyway you want, you can bunk beds if you like, or you can use bed risers. You can also arrange the furniture in any way you like to decorate it. But all you have to do is not use pushpins and use command hooks instead. Here's our green on campus where students can hang out and you can also rent equipment from S.A.B. Like soccer, volleyball, or spike ball, if you want to play any of that, you can do that out here.

This is the Pavilion where we have sporting events on campus. We also have student events like Screaming Eagles Week and intramural games. This is Pecota Student Center, to my right is The Aerie, which is our coffee shop we have on campus, and then to the left is our newly designed student lounge. Here in this area to the left is also our Student Development office, basically in Admissions, we help set you up, getting you on campus, and then we pass you off to Student Development, which helps run everything on campus, Multicultural Life, Housing, community, events, everything like that is run by Student Development. They're awesome. Here's the Millard building on campus, this is where our drama department has all of our plays, which is where the theater is located in here, it's also used as a classroom sometimes, too. And there's classrooms upstairs. Also, Improv meets here every Thursday night, which is a great time for students to come out and have a laugh. This is our library on campus downstairs here is the talking floor, upstairs is the quiet floor. Also all our books are upstairs and then here you can rent movies, you can rent puzzles, all that kind of fun stuff. It's a great place to study and hang out. To my left is where you can check out a book. You just get your ID card and scan the book and you are good to go. Over here in a smaller little area is where our 24 hour study room is. This is great for all nighters. If you need to study or if you meet with a group, there's also group study rooms upstairs where you can do group projects and all that kind of stuff.

So this is our Health and Science Center on campus, also known as HSC. This is going to be where a lot of our nursing majors meet, as well as a bunch of classrooms inside. Let's go check it out. So inside this building is a ton of different things. There's regular classrooms for students, but there's also labs all the way down at the end of the hall. Our nursing majors have classrooms upstairs as well as labs. And the College of Arts and Sciences Department is to my right. Welcome to Dickey Plaza. So this is an area where a lot of departments connect over to my left is Fee Hall, that's going to be where all of the English professors offices are. Over to my right is Rice Hall, which is for all the Education Department. Also, at the very end of the hall is Bronson Hall, which is where the Ministry professors meet. And then to my right here is Academic Success and Advising. They're going to help set you up an advisor every semester, which is super nice because they'll go over your classes for you and make sure you're on the right track to graduate. This is one of my favorite spots on campus. It's super peaceful and beautiful and yeah, I love this bridge. Here's our Chapel on campus here, we have services every Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays for students, there's two services every Wednesday and Friday so it can fit around your schedule. Basically every semester you have to get thirty five chapel credits in order to pass chapel. You just get that by using your ID card and scanning in before you leave, and then you scan out when you're done.

There's over 90 opportunities on campus to get chapel credit. You can also do that through Life Groups which are like Bible studies on campus. There's also Pursuit, which is a worship night we have every Monday night and other opportunities as well. This is the last building, the Barton Building. So here is where is going to be, all of our Music Industry Business, all of our music production, everything like that is going to be down this hallway. We have our Creatio Studios. We also have a Mac lab for students to use, as well as our Choralons gospel choir meets there to, they have practice there. So, yeah, this is everything Music Industry Business and music production. This is our Choralons and our orchestra practice. They practice back here for Choralons. Our Choralons is a gospel choir on campus and they also go on tour every year. This is Creatio one of two fully equipped studios that we have on campus for students to use, it's headed by Grammy Award winner Steve Smith. This is our IT department on campus. They're going to help set you up with Wi-Fi on campus, getting your I.D. cards figured out. Also, if you have any problems with your computer, you can bring it to them. Here's the Eagle Fitness Center on campus. This is where students and faculty can come and work out, there's lots of equipment free to use and get swole. Over to my right is our Mail and Services center. Basically here you can pick up any packages that you get delivered to. They'll also send you a text and an email when it's here.

Thanks for coming along with me today, guys. I hope you got a good glimpse at what it's like to be a student here at Northwest.
