Background
Dr. Mary Coday grew up in North Seattle. She received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Bioengineering at the University of Washington, summa cum laude. Dr. Coday then moved to Boston to obtain her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1994 through the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology Program and graduated cum laude. During her years there, she had the opportunity to work on biodegradable drug delivery systems used to treat brain tumors. She did a transitional internship at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, receiving the "intern of the year" award. She then completed her ophthalmology residency at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston.
Dr. Coday has been a comprehensive ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon practicing in the Pacific Northwest for over 20 years. She is a partner at Overlake EyeCare, PS, with offices in Bellevue and Kirkland, Washington.
She is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Coday is a member of the Washington Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, having served in the past as president and trustee. She is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Christian Medical and Dental Association. She received a "Top Doctors" award in 2013, 2020, and 2022. In 2018, she received 'Trademark Women of Distinction Honors'.
Dr. Coday enjoys educating patients and ophthalmic technicians on a regular basis. She served for a year as medical director for the Ophthalmic Assistant program at Renton Technical College.
She is active in the community and is a provider through the EyeCare America program. She is involved in C3 Leaders business forums and other business networks.
Dr Coday enjoys going on outings with her family, reading, cooking, and dance fitness. She served for years on the audio-visual team at church running the sound board. She is delighted to help direct the development of the Physician Assistant program at Northwest University.
