Athletic Game Staff (Student Worker)


Position Details

Department Athletics
Reports To Sports Information Director / Assistant Athletic Director
Openings 8
Time Commitment Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Hours will vary, approximately 4-10 hours/week

Position Summary

The Game Staff position assists the NU athletics program to ensure a smooth and efficient game day experience. A number of services will be required for each home event including statistics, operations and photography. Below are the following responsibilities that are included with each sport (student workers will receive training):

  • Men’s & Women’s Soccer- Set Up/Tear Down, Announcer/Substitute person, Ball Shaggers, Video. 
  • Volleyball- Set Up/Tear Down, Announcer, Scoresheet, Libero Tracker, Game Concessions, Gate ticket sales, Video, Scoreboard. 
  • Men’s & Women’s Basketball- Set up/Tear Down, Game Concessions, Gate ticket sales, Video, Scoreboard, Shot Clock.

Essential Functions

  • Game staff must be able to perform a variety of duties that support a smooth and efficient game.
  • Must have knowledge of the game rules.
  • Be reliable, prompt, and able to provide a high level of customer service and professionalism at games.
  • Able to dress in appropriate NU attire and not use personal cell phones during games.

Physical Demands

The functions are usually performed while sitting or standing, but may involve some amount of time stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting (max. of 80 lbs with assistance), walking, carrying, reaching, stretching, perform repetitive motions of the hands or wrists and other movements.  The abilities of seeing, hearing, and speaking are also required.
