BSN Direct Freshman Admission
The Mark and Huldah Buntain School of Nursing at Northwest University offers a Direct Freshman Admission pathway to its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program through participation in the Northwest University President’s Scholarship Event.
Eligibility Requirements
- A completed Northwest University application must be submitted by January 15 of the student’s senior year in high school to be considered for the President’s Scholarship Event and Direct Freshman Admission to the Buntain School of Nursing (BSON).
- Be invited to the President’s Scholarship Event
- Invitations to the competition are sent on February 1 and are limited to students who demonstrate the highest level of academic achievement.
- Only students who are selected for and participate in the President’s Scholarship Event are considered for Direct Freshman Admission to the BSON.
Please note: Students do not need to receive the Presidents’ Scholarship to be eligible for Direct Freshman Admission, but they must fully participate in the competition.
Maintaining Eligibility
- Complete Prerequisite Courses:
- Students are required to maintain full-time enrollment and must complete all Northwest University core curriculum courses and BSON prerequisite courses at Northwest University.
- Meet BSON Entrance Requirements:
- Students are required to meet all BSON entrance requirements as specified in the NU academic catalog.
- If all academic and program requirements are met, Direct Freshman Admission students are guaranteed a reserved seat in the nursing program after submitting the NursingCAS application.
