Background

Dr. Kim Lampson began her professional career working in student development at Seattle Pacific University. Her enjoyment of counseling students led her to pursue a doctorate in counseling psychology and become licensed as a psychologist. Although her undergraduate degree and master's degree were in higher education, she left academia when she finished her doctorate and went into private practice. For over twenty years, she worked with adolescents and adults who struggled with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and trauma. Dr. Lampson also loves to write, is the co-author with her husband of Eating Disorders: Nutrition Therapy in the Recovery Process and has written numerous other publications on her own. During this time, Dr. Lampson kept one toe in higher education, teaching occasional classes at SPU, Bellevue College, and Seattle University.

It seems that Dr. Lampson’s life has now come full circle with the opportunity to be professor of graduate psychology and director of NUhope Community Counseling Center, the training clinic for graduate students at Northwest University. Dr. Lampson is a frequent presenter at professional conferences where she introduces innovative interventions for couples therapists. She continues to maintain a part-time private practice that complements her work at NU where she specializes in couples therapy and is an Advanced Trainer in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
