Spiritual Life Credit

What is Spiritual Life Credit?

Students are expected to engage in the spiritual life of the community. Programs and events that inform and engage spiritual life count towards what we call Spiritual Life credit. Spiritual Life credit opportunities are organized in such a way as to encourage students to own the different components of their spiritual formation.

Students are expected to engage in a total of 30 programs, gatherings, groups, or events for Spiritual Life credit throughout the semester (equal to participating in about 3 Spiritual Life credit opportunities per week). Part of our alignment as an Assemblies of God University requires that we have a form of credit for chapel or spiritual life. The number of required credits (30) is equal to three chapels a week, but can be attained in a variety of approved ways.

How Many Spiritual Life Credits Do I Need to Attain?

Short Answer: 30 Credits.

Long Answer: For traditional undergraduate students taking 12+ credits, the Spiritual Life credit requirement is 30 credits (equal to participating in about 3 Spiritual Life credit opportunities per week). For part-time traditional undergraduate students taking 7-11 credits, the Spiritual Life credit requirement is 15 credits. For part-time traditional undergraduate students taking 6 or less credits there is no Spiritual Life requirement.

There are 68+ Spiritual Life Credit opportunities available this semester. Continue reading to learn about the various ways to get credit.

How Will I Record My Attendance at Chapels?

  • Attendance is recorded through the NUConnect/CampusGroups app and website. All traditional undergraduate students need to download the app and sign into their account.

What Are My Options For Attaining My Spiritual Life Credits This Semester?

Chapel Gatherings:  Chapel gatherings will be hosted in person.  Students may get one credit per day by attending Community Life Chapel at 10:10am.

Life Groups:  A Life Group is a group of students meeting weekly to practice the Way of Jesus together. Students can easily create or join a Life Group.

The Way: The Way worship nights will be in person at 8:00pm on Monday nights in Butterfield Chapel.

Local Missions Opportunities: A few times a semester Campus Ministries will offer a service project in our local area for spiritual life credit.

Extra Opportunities:  At least 5 opportunities outside the Campus Ministries office will be approved for Spiritual Life credit. These events are proposed by departments, professors, or students. They may be lectures, interactive events, and/or conferences. Requests for Spiritual Life credit for an event can be submitted to Spiritual Life Attendance using the form on the Campus Ministries Eagle website.

Where Can I View a Calendar of Spiritual Life Credit Opportunities?

Approved Spiritual Life credit gatherings and opportunities will be posted on the NU Connect/Campus Groups app. Also, Spiritual Life credit opportunities will be advertised each Monday morning in the Life at NU email that goes out to all traditional undergraduate students.
