Assistant or Associate Professor: Principal Faculty - Physician Assistant Studies (Part-time)

Position Summary

The ARC-PA has granted Accreditation-Provisional status to the Northwest University School of Physician Assistant Medicine Program sponsored by Northwest University.

Northwest University is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant/Associate Principal Faculty (0.5 FTE) for the School of PA Medicine.  This position will serve as a principal faculty member and collaborate with all members of the program faculty and staff.

The successful candidate will provide support with assessment, course, and curriculum sequencing to align with ARC-PA standards, as well as providing general leadership and direction to all enrolled students. The principal faculty candidate will report to the Dean of the PA program.

The principal faculty member must possess a meaningful commitment to Jesus Christ, the church, and the Gospel. We are seeking someone with a winsome, encouraging, and culturally engaged faith. Candidates with previous academic experience including precepting or teaching is preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Provide classroom instruction and coordinate activities related to the education for students admitted to the program.
  • Evaluating student and program performance.
  • Designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the curriculum.
  • Serving as an advisor to all students admitted into the program.
  • Actively participating in all ARC-PA accreditation activities that are required.
  • Participate in the student admissions selection process each year.
  • Participate in all committees related to the operations within the PA program.
  • Participate in the governance functions of the university as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be a current licensed physician assistant or an allopathic/osteopathic physician.
  • Candidate must be board certified.
  • Candidate must have a demonstrated, vibrant evangelical faith compatible with the mission of Northwest University.
  • Candidate must have the ability to apply a faith-based worldview to program design, instruction, and advising.
  • Part-time appointments must be a minimum of 0.5 FTE (20 hrs./week)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidate has previous academic appointments in education.
  • Candidate has previous leadership experience in education.
  • Candidate is willing to enroll in a doctoral program related to area of instruction.
  • Candidate has established relationships with area hospitals and local clinics.
  • Candidate is an active member of a local church.

Compensation

Based on education and experience, compensation for Assistant Professor (0.5 FTE) starts at $53,793 to a median of $60,000.

Accreditation

Northwest University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (regional). The University is endorsed by the Commission on Christian Higher Education of the Assemblies of God and the Association of Christian Schools International. The University holds membership in the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities.

Northwest University's College of Business is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The Buntain College of Nursing’s baccalaureate degree is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. In addition, the College of Nursing has received approval from the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission. The University is also approved by the Board of Education and Superintendent of Public Instruction of the State of Washington to prepare elementary and secondary education teachers and recommend for certification. It is a member of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. Northwest University's doctoral program in counseling psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).

The University is approved by the Federal and State Governments for student aid programs and for the training of international students. Selected programs of study are approved by a Washington State Approving Agency for enrollment of those eligible for benefits under Title 38 and Title 10, U.S. Code and by Washington State for training in Vocational Rehabilitation. It is listed in the current bulletin, "Accredited Higher Education Institutions," published by the U.S. Office of Education.
