Northwest Partnership Program Financial Aid
The Northwest Partnership Program (NPP) teams with churches to offer college courses with the highest level of academic accreditation as part of their church or ministry internship program while you complete an associate or bachelor’s degree. The program is uniquely designed with a balance of academic rigor, student support, and real-life application. Graduate-level degrees are also available through the NPP but do not include a church internship.
All tuition costs are eligible for federal aid (loans and grants), and the Student Financial Services team is here to serve you. Each team member is dedicated to your success and will be by your side during your time in the NPP program. We’re here to answer any of your questions and provide you with the financial aid information you need. You can reach us at nppfinancialservices@northwestu.edu or call at 425-889-5210. We look forward to assisting you and wish you the very best as you achieve your academic goals.
Types of Financial Aid for Online Learners
Grants
Students who show a direct need for assistance may qualify for grants, such as the Federal Pell Grant, to help support their academic pursuits. Education students may be eligible for the TEACH Grant if they sign an Agreement to Serve or Repay and complete TEACH Counseling. Grants generally do not have to be paid back to the issuer.
Some Washington state residents may also be eligible for need-based state aid funds, including the Washington College Grant, College Bound Scholarship, and/or the Washington Bridge Grant. Ministry majors, minors, and internship credits cannot be pursued while receiving Washington State Aid per state law. The FAFSA can be used to apply for these grants. If you are ineligible for the FAFSA, you may still be eligible for Washington state aid through the WASFA.
Military Benefits
Active-duty service members and veterans may be eligible for a variety of education benefits based on their length of service and branch, which can be applied toward a college education. Most military benefits do not have to be repaid. Contact your local VA office to determine your benefit eligibility.
Federal Loans
Federal financial assistance provides an accessible way to afford your college tuition through low-interest loans; however, they must be paid back after you graduate, leave the university, or drop below half time. Federal Direct Loans are the most common type of federal loans available to students.
Scholarships
Students can earn scholarships offered by civic organizations, religious organizations, and trade associations to help afford college. Some of these outside scholarships may be found on our Outside Scholarships resource page.
