Director of Marketing

Position Summary

The Marketing Director will provide visionary leadership in developing and implementing integrated marketing and communication strategies that advance the university’s mission, increase brand visibility, support enrollment growth, and engage internal and external audiences in alignment with the organization’s Christian identity and values. This role leads a collaborative team in executing multi-channel marketing initiatives across print, digital, social, and event platforms. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), director position. This role will be performed from the Kirkland office with potential consideration for limited hybrid work from approved locations.

Essential Functions

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with NU’s goals, mission and values.
  2. Collaborate with senior leadership, admissions, development, academic departments, and alumni relations to ensure cohesive messaging and integrated marketing efforts.
  3. Utilize data, market research, and trending insights to refine strategies and measure impact.
  4. Ensure consistent brand voice, visuals, and messaging across all digital and traditional platforms
  5. Oversee development and maintenance of brand guidelines that reflect the university’s values and heritage.
  6. Lead the execution of digital marketing campaigns including email, social media, SEO/SEM, paid advertising, and content marketing.
  7. Manage traditional marketing efforts such as print collateral, signage, publications, and media outreach.
  8. Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate marketing personnel.
  9. Oversee project workflow and timelines, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  10. Facilitate collaboration with external agencies and vendors when necessary.
  11. Support enrollment goals through targeted recruitment campaigns and strategic communication with prospective students, parents, and influencers.
  12. Promote initiatives that engage alumni, donors, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  13. Manage the marketing budget to ensure financial boundaries are met and opportunities are leveraged.

Education/Experience/Skills

  1. Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred degrees include marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
  2. Minimum 3-5 years of progressively responsible marketing leadership experience.  
  3. Strong strategic thinker with excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
  4. Experience with digital marketing platforms, analytics tools, and CRM systems.
  5. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex initiatives.
  6. Ability to contribute to a Jesus-centered work culture as a natural expression of personal faith.
  7. Strong leadership, strategic planning, and team management skills.
  8. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities.

Working Environment 

  1. Typical office environment with potential travel required for events, conferences, or recruitment activities.
  2. Occasional evening or weekend responsibilities during peak communication periods.
  3. Position works with strictly confidential information.

Physical Demands 

  1. The functions are usually performed while sitting, but may involve some amount of time standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting (max. of 40 lbs.), walking, carrying, reaching, perform repetitive motions of the hands or wrists and other movements. 
  2. The abilities of seeing, hearing and speaking are also required. 

Compensation

Based on education and experience, the position has a hiring range of $90,000 to $110,000 annually, plus excellent benefits.
