Change of Major
Are you considering a new major? Consult the NU catalog to understand the degree requirements for your new major. This is of particular importance if you are changing modalities.
Here are some important steps and considerations:
Staying in the Same Modality
If you will be changing your major and staying in the same modality (Kirkland Campus, Online, or Northwest Partnership Program) your first step is to contact your advisor.
Your Advisor will help you:
- Understand the implications of the new degree
- Make sure your transfer credits (if you have them) are applied to your new major
- Select the most advantageous catalog year for you
Your advisor will make the changes in the university systems and notify all departments that need to be aware of the change:
Switching to a Different Modality
If you are changing your major and switching to a different modality (from Kirkland Campus, Online, Northwest Partnership Program or Oregon to one of the aforementioned), your first step is to contact your current advisor in your current modality and complete this simple form: Re-admit or Change Campus.
Your Advisor will help you:
- Consider the options for majors in the new modality
- See how any transfer credits from a previous institution will transfer to the new major in the new modality (if you have them)
- See how your credits earned at NU will satisfy requirements for your new major in your new modality.
Your advisor will also:
- Help you with the steps for admission to the new modality
- Connect you to an Advisor in the new modality
Your advisor will make the changes in the university systems and notify all departments that need to be aware of the change:
Contact Student Financial Services
Contact your Student Financial Services counselor to understand if and how your change of major could affect your financial aid. Please note, if you are receiving a Washington College Grant, you cannot declare a College of Ministry Major or Minor and still qualify for this aid.
