International Student Services

International Student Services (ISS) exists to help international students achieve their educational goals while they attend Northwest University. The ISS department includes our visa information, immigration assistance, OPT, CPT, and international academic advising for undergraduate and graduate students. ISS is dedicated to helping international students make Northwest University their home.

Undergraduate Admissions

If you are a high school graduate looking to continue your education at the collegiate level we would love to help you! If you are a student who has already completed college credits and are looking to transfer, we will help you create a path for graduation. International students thrive at Northwest University! There are so many ways to get involved and become known on campus. International students have served as president of our student body, won our talent show, and gotten great internships at world famous companies in the Seattle area.

Graduate Admissions

Northwest has incredible Graduate and Doctoral programs. Our graduate and doctoral programs have been specifically designed to provide international students the opportunity to get work experience while studying. Many students choose our graduate programs because they have a diverse population of international students. If you are interested, we can help you get connected with an admissions counselor.

We know that there is so much to learn when you come to a new country! The International Student Services department exists to serve students, and make sure that they don’t feel lost or alone.

Employment in the U.S.

ISS is happy to help international students navigate employment in the U.S. Whether you are looking for to work on-campus, or searching for work experience that compliments your degree, we will advise you about the steps you need to take. There are two options for off-campus work experience, Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT). Both require applications that our department will guide you through.

Academic Advising

Throughout your educational career at NU, the ISS department works with students to ensure academic success. Are department supports students who are considering changes to their programs, like class withdrawal, taking time off from current degrees, or traveling home. The ISS department will make it clear how these choices could impact student’s visa status as an F- student and advise accordingly.

Health Insurance

Our department is also here to assist you with your personal health and wellness. We coordinate insurance enrollment every semester, so that every full-time international student can access the care they need.
