Spring Welcome Weekend FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome Weekend is an opportunity for you to meet and engage with your peers, learn all about Northwest University, meet key faculty, staff, and administrators, and acclimate to this new season at Northwest University!
All new entering students are automatically signed up for Welcome Weekend. We believe that WW is a vital part of your successful transition to Northwest University, and we require all students (first-time freshmen or transfers) to attend. You will not only learn about our community policies and resources. You will meet friends that may last a lifetime.
We know many of our transfer students may have attended another college or university’s orientation program. However, we believe every entering student will benefit from WW, where you will specifically learn about the nuances of life at NU. Approximately one-third of our entering students are transfers, and most of our spring incoming students are transfer students, so we keep this in mind when planning the weekend.
We like to make things really easy for you, so you are already signed up!
Welcome Weekend comes out of the New Student Fee which places $170 on your account. This cost covers meals, supplies, a t-shirt, activities, and all other costs associated with Welcome Weekend and new student onboarding at Northwest University.
We require all of our new students to attend Welcome Weekend. Even if you choose not to fully participate, you are still required to pay the full fee. There are no refunds or prorations.
Residence Life and Housing are working diligently to house all of our incoming students. To achieve a smooth process of moving all of our new students in on January 11, everyone will receive a specific scheduled move-in time between 12 and 3pm. This information will be emailed to you no later than Wednesday, January 7.
